60 yr. old needs chaperon????
by red21 inso, a female relative of mine who is 60 but inactive in the truth had their mate dying in the hospital.
the older sister + husband and old brother (of dying man) (active witnesses) come to visit and stay at their home.
the old sister is staying at the hospital around the clock for the duration of the visit but tells her sister-in-law that she must have a chaperon at the house if she is going to be there with her husband and her dying husbands older brother?

A little example of how severely the contributions for the Society are drying up
by sir82 injust a little tidbit from the congregation i attend..... the congregation has approximately 120 publishers.. well over 1000 magazines per month are picked up, not to mention all the books, brochures, and tracts that are picked up.. there was a "local needs" part on the service meeting recently, asking for more contributions.. it seems our congregation has averaged just about $300 per month contributions to the "worldwide work" over the past year.. .
assuming 1500 magazines / month, that's just 20 cents per magazine - and that completely ignores all other literature that is picked up.. the last price the magazines had, 20+ years ago, was 25 cents per issue.
with inflation that would have been about 50 cents each now.. just another sign of how severely the contriutions to the society are drying up..... .

... the way to go is cyberspace. Meetings via hookup. By selling off Kingdom Halls the pecuniary profits will benefit the GB and prolong their shelf life.

I will say it again:
They are so used to lying,
they don't even tell The Truth™ to each other.

Should Smoking Be a Mortal Sin?
by skeeter1 injdubs hang their hat on the fact that the wts was right about not smoking.
(the jdubs forget that the wts did not get it right on vaccinations or organ transplants...but that's for another post).
granted, saying "no" to smoke was a good, healthy decision.

My observation, the "threefold cord" actually weakens a marriage
by Robert7 inso my wife and i survived leaving the jw faith together over the course of the last 4 years.
it was a wild ride for our relationship, but thankfully we are stronger than ever.
so looking back, here is my observation about the "threefold cord", at least the jw version of it.. i believe the idea of the threefold cord actually weakens a marriage, keeping it less mature.

Robert7 > I've heard people say (not sure if I've seen it in writing) that you cannot love your spouse unless they love Jehovah first.
My guess is, that's how the WTS wants them to think, although I could not find anything in their official publications. God/WTS always comes in third place - with husband and wife being primary and secondary string. No other strings attached!
True it is, “two are better than one . . . For if one of them should fall, the other one can raise his partner up.” But better still is “a threefold cord,” for it “cannot quickly be torn in two.” More than anything or anyone else that can help you to have your marriage like a threefold cord, strong—and also happy—is having God as the third strand to your marriage cord.—Eccl. 4:9-12.Awake!72 2/22 p. 8 Is God in Your Marriage?
Thus, if marriage partners really love each other, not just physically but also because of the other partner’s spiritual qualifications, and have deep respect for God, he becomes a third party in the contract. In this way marriage ties are greatly strengthened, for as the Bible says, “a threefold cord cannot quickly be torn in two.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12) Asking God to be a third party can be the greatest help to those planning to marry. It can also transform many miserable marriages into happy ones.
Awake!82 6/8 p. 12 Is This Divorce Necessary?
Nevertheless, the son will have to balance respect for his parents with the necessity of being head of his own household if he is to have Jehovah as the third strand in the symbolic ‘threefold cord that is not easily torn in two.’—Ecclesiastes 4:12.
w87 2/1 p. 6 Following Bible Principles — The Superior Way
The strongest friendships are founded on a love for Jehovah. King Solomon wrote: “If somebody could overpower one alone, two together could make a stand against him. And a threefold cord cannot quickly be torn in two.” (Eccl. 4:12) When Jehovah is the third cord in a friendship, that friendship will endure.

What's The Biggest Difference In Today's JWs And The Witnesses From Decades Ago?
by minimus ini believe today's witnesses lack zeal, resolve, "love" of the "truth"......just to name a few things.. years ago, witnesses were excited to knock on doors and tell people they were gonna die if they didn't accept paradise.. now, when you see jws in service, they all look zombied out.. it's a slowly dying religion that will last probably forever like an ancient rotted out tree..

In the Awake! February 2012 issue, page 21, there is an article on paper wasps.
Did you contribute to that particular segment by any chance?

My wife is my family. And I worship her that night extra much. She gives praise to God repeatedly.

Unproductive Anger
by agonus inhi friends,.
i have a feeling i may need to cut back a bit here.
it's doing nothing but fueling my anger and i'm not sure that anger is any longer productive (kind of like the org itself).

Unproductive anger? Psychology teaches that anger is more useful than dispair.
